Refurb - Repair - Remake - Replace
Designer and maker of parts for your perfect project.
Movie Eyeball Kit which has been designed, developed and 3D printed by Tom's Refurbishments. Other credits go to "TARDISman550" and "The Prydonian" on Instagram and Twitter, for 3D modelling and dimensional assistance, and Chesterfield Model Making and Miniature Electronics (CMMEM) Ltd. for supplying the laser cut components.
Included in each kit are the parts as follows:
1 X 3D printed Movie eyeball
1 X 3D printed iris ring with 45mm opening
1 X 3D printed iris ring with 34mm opening
1 X laser cut plain lens
1 X laser cut lens with centre hole
1 X 3D printed 14mm "pupil"
1 X 3D printed 18mm "pupil"
6 X neodymium magnets (only 3 required for build)
The eyeball features an 8mm centre hole in the back for either attaching to the eyestalk assembly with a bolt or for wires to be fed through, should you require the unit to be lit up. The back also features a 1mm deep recess in the centre to suit a 1" (25.4mm) diameter tube. The front opening is designed to suit a standard ring-pull tin can (once the can has been washed out and cut to desired length) as per the original props. When designing this kit, this was a feature that was kept in mind throughout the whole development process to pay homage to the original props. By using a ring-pull can, rather than one which requires a tin opener, this allows the neodymium magnets to hold an iris part in place on the finished piece whilst also allowing access to the insides should you need to alter bolt fittings or electronics once complete.
The iris rings and lenses give the builder the options to make this into a 60's or 70's design. The plain lens is to be fitted to an iris to give the look of a 60's Movie era build or the lens with hole and pupil can be fitted instead to give a 70's look. Please note that neither of these are a working aperture iris. In the back of the iris rings are 3 holes for a single neodymium magnet to be glued into each. This can be done with super glue or epoxy resin (builder's choice).
This is a kit and will need finishing and assembling before painting. These parts will require filling and/or sanding before painting to achieve a smooth finish.
Toms refurbishment is one if not the best business that can provide you with recreated "prop" parts to a outstanding degree and would definitely recommend him as his speed in posting and the finish quality of the product is handled with such care. Tom himself is also very kind and encouraging and a pleasure to talk to. Thanks to Tom I have been able to start my dream of having my own personal "army" which would not be possible without parts provided by Tom.
Tom’s Refurbishments, the best for all things Sci-fi. The attention to detail, service and quality of the builds are 100%. Props made from accurate, strong and quality materials, Tom’s work really can’t be faulted. The communication between Tom is great too, a guy who listens and does what the client needs to the best of his ability.
Tom's Refurbishments is the first port of call for a variety of project/build parts and restoration. Tom's amazing attention to detail and love for all things "Sci-Fi" shows in his unrivalled quality in his work with many happy clients. Tom keeps excellent communication with his clients and is an absolute pleasure to work with.
I contacted Tom back in 2019 about making some improvements to my project so that I could take him to events and Comic Cons. Tom saw this as a challenge and found solutions which created a beautiful, reliable machine that works wonderfully and allowed me to attend the Queen's Jubilee Parade without any technical issues. I fully recommend Tom's Refurbishments and I intend to commission my other project with Tom in the near future.
